چکیده

The main mechanisms that enable insects to resist the action of insecticides can be grouped into two distinct categories: Target site resistance and metabolic resistance. Target site resistance is based on alterations of amino acids in the site of action where the insecticide is supposed to bind, causing the insecticide to be less effective or ineffective at all. Knock down resistance (Kdr) occurs due to a single or multiple substitutions in the sodium channel (Martinez-Torres et al., ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 3 Number 10 (2014) pp. 878-884 http://www.ijcmas.com

Status of pyrethroid resistance in Anopheles gambiae sensu lato.

The present study confirms the presence of pyrethroid resistance among Anopheles gambiae s.l mosquitos in Côte d'Ivoire and reports the observation of such resistance in two other countries in West Africa (Benin and Burkina Faso). Malaria vector populations from Cameroon (Central Africa), Senegal (West Africa) and Botswana (southern Africa) were found to be susceptible to pyrethroids. In the mo...

Monitoring Pyrethroid Insecticide Resistance in Major Malaria Vector Anopheles culicifacies: Comparison of Molecular Tools and Conventional Susceptibility Test

<Anopheles culicifacies is a main malaria vector in southeastern part of Iran, bordring Afghanistan and Pakistan. So far, resistance to DDT, dieldrin, malathion and partial tolerance to pyrethroids has been reported in An. stephensi, but nothing confirmed on resistance status of An. culicifacies in Iran. Methods: In current study, along with WHO routine susceptibility test with DDT (4%), di...

Determination of Glutathione S-Transferase e2 Region (GSTe2) in DDT Susceptible and Resistant Anopheles stephensi Populations: Significance and Application of Nucleotide and Amino Acid Comparison

Glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) are a major family of detoxification enzymes which possess a wide range of substrate specificities. Interest in insect GSTs has primarily focused on their role in insecticide resistance. In this study, following World Health Organization (WHO) routine susceptibility test, DNA was extracted from specimens of Anopheles stephensi collected from the Kazeroon distri...

The distribution of insecticide resistance in Anopheles gambiae s.l. populations from Cameroon: an update.

Insecticides are a key component of vector-based malaria control programmes in Cameroon. As part of ongoing resistance surveillance efforts, Anopheles gambiae s.l. female mosquitoes were exposed to organochlorine (DDT), a carbamate (bendiocarb), an organophosphate (malathion), and three pyrethroids (deltamethrin, lambda-cyhalothrin and permethrin) in WHO bioassay test kits. Results indicated a ...

A significant increase in kdr in Anopheles gambiae is associated with an intensive vector control intervention in Burundi highlands.

OBJECTIVES AND METHODS In Burundi, the occurrence of the knock down resistance (kdr) mutation in Anopheles gambiae sensu lato (s.l.) was determined for six consecutive years within the framework of a vector control programme. Findings were also linked with the insecticide resistance status observed with bioassay in An. gambiae s.l. and An. funestus. RESULTS The proportion of An. gambiae s.l. ...
